Project Support Director, Construction

– Ella Brazel

Project Support Director, Construction with Vestas and based in Dublin.

What did you want to do when you were 16?

I wanted to be a fashion designer when I was in school.

What kind of qualifications do you need for your job?

I’m an accountant by trade, I like to use numbers to understand commercial scenarios. However, a strictly accountant discipline is not required at all, just a cost cautious and net outcome basic mindset is a great start. The ability to multi-task and have a lot of tabs open in your brain is essential though.

What kind of career opportunities do you have?

I feel privileged to be in a growing and innovative industry like wind. Opportunities are in abundance within the industry for the right candidates. There are many disciplines within the industry and different technologies from onshore to fixed or floating wind offshore.

Best part of your working day?

Talking to people and working together on innovative ideas. It is a great feeling to help motivate people and drive each other to make the best business decisions for our company and colleagues.

Something that might surprise people about your role?

My role covers support for Northern and Central Europe. So, lots of variety for me!

How can people get into the industry?

If you are new to wind, I would recommend considering your transferable skills. For example, if you have been in a planning, sales or operational role before, why don’t you start off there. It gives you a chance to get your head around a new industry. For example, I am an accountant by trade and now I am in construction support. Also, in my biased opinion, the people in wind are super. So why not reach out to someone in the company you are interested in to learn more about getting into the industry?
